Civic Service
Anzac Day is a time to honour the memory of our fallen and to recognise the service of those men and women, past and present, who have served New Zealand. The Auckland RSA is proud to be associated with the Anzac Day 2016 Dawn and Citizens’ Services at The Cenotaph, Auckland Domain.
Anzac Day was first marked in Auckland in 1916, making 2016 the 100th year of commemorations. It also marks the centenary of the New Zealand Division arriving in France and later in 1916 entering the Battle of the Somme. In 23 days, the division suffered 7000 casualties, including more than 1500 killed.
